A History of the Development of Synthesizers

Synthesizers are instruments that help people create and then play various sounds. These tools generally require external sound boxes, but not all the models are the same. They come with many different features, functions and capabilities. There are three main categories these musical tools fall into: analog, software and digital. With an analog synthesizer the sound waves are modeled in continuous voltages at various proportions, while a digital one will use separate information units. And lastly, a software synthesizer uses specialized software for mixing sounds.

Nevertheless, these three types can be assimilated, creating a hybrid synthesizer, with different synthesis methods and techniques, such as subtractive, physical modeling, granular, phase distortion, sample based, additive, frequency modulation and sub-harmonic synthesis.

The first electronic synthesizer was invented in 1876 by Elisha Gray. After this, many other experiments started to take place, and so different types of syntheiszers have been invented.  For instance, the Microtonal Electronic keyboard was invented in 1937 by Ivor Darreg, while the ANS model was developed by a scientist named Evgeny Murzin. Presently, this last model is still preserved at Moscow’s Lomonosov University.

After the year 1960, the development of such gadgets had significantly increased in intensity. However, they were so large in size that they could only be kept inside professional studios. And yet the models nowadays are all digital, and since they are way more advanced than the previous models, a whole song can now be arranged on a synthesizer, with many different acoustic effects.

You may also have the option to choose the sound effect to be applied on the track, such as people talking, moving trains, or the sound of applause.

Modern synthesizers allow you to create and record new sound effects, which is one of the reasons why they are so popular in the music industry. Synthesized music is growing day by day, and even films are now put together with songs created using this technology. The first song that was fully synthesized was “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” in a James Bond movie in the year 1969.

Synthesizers nowadays provide you with even more features, such as recording and playing what you have just played instantly. This can be simply done by recording sounds on CDs, which are now basic features with any modern synthesizer. When it comes to sound balancing, these musical tools offer a wide range of options, enabling you to balance sound without any professional help. So if you are seriously considering creating your own sounds, this is the right choice to take your hobby to the next level.

Music Composition – How to Produce Music

I was thinking back just the other day to when I did not know too much about mixing techniques and I also thought that there must be many other people out there in the same position not knowing how to produce music. So I have decided to come up with a list of a few points that all beginners to music production should consider.

Take some time to find bands/artists that have started from basics, not necessary in the genre you are writing in – I would advise anyone to do this and in doing so, create your own personal music production school. If you listen to a lot of bands/artists today there is so much going on in tracks it can be quite hard to focus. If you go and find so bands/artists that are in a different genre you will instantly hear the difference and hear/see that genres rely on specific traits, which is how their genre gets defined. This could very well be the ticket to your own university of music, there is a lot to be learnt and you can learn it by broadening your horizons. Make sure you listen to some older artists too as the song writing and mixing is different 10, 20, 30 and so on years ago. There is a lot to be learned.

Spend time really listening to tracks, isolating specific instruments and focus on them and follow them through a track – Doing this can really help you have an understanding of rhythm and it can also give you great ideas for writing/mixing in a different ways. You will pick up some excellent music mixing tips and music production tips; it will also educate you on what elements can make up a good song. Many times bad songs can be good songs. Normally it is bad lyrics over a great piece of music.

Do not use bad quality recordings – When you are writing or mixing a track you really have to watch the quality. You need the quality to be as good as you can get it and it all needs to be the same quality too. When I say quality, I do not many anything other than how it sounds without any kind of effect added. There is no way and never has been or ever will be a way to fix the quality of audio in the mix, therefore if you try this, you will only be wasting your time and heading for headache city.

There are many other music mixing tips to consider if you are interested in helping yourself understand how to produce music. I believe that if anyone ever wants to improve their music mixing techniques they should take a look at THIS website. It could be the case that you are stuck and do not know what to do next or it could be you are wanting to learn more skills and ‘tricks of the trade’, either way you should take a look.

New York-Based Massage Therapist Karina Yanku Announces Increased Bookings After Being Featured in Edya Kalevs MELT, Yoga and Wellness Newsletter

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2013

Serendipity is a beautiful thing; especially when one steps back and allows the Universe to work its magic. Take, for example, a chance meeting back in 2008 at a wellness seminar at Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre in Times Square. Karina Yanku, a massage therapist and Edya Kalev, a yoga instructor, have stayed in touch; sharing ideas, inviting each other to networking events, and supporting each others endeavors. Recently, Karina Yanku was featured in the MELT, Yoga and Wellness newsletter, and is amazed at how her client base has doubled since this singular article was published just two months ago. Ms.Kalev was so touched by Yankus story of how she overcame a childhood brain injury and took inspiration from her recovery to create OANAMassage to help with coordination, balance and memory.

As the first-born of three girls, Yankus mother was in labor with her for 18 long hours. When she was born everything appeared normal, but as she was developing, her parents noticed that she was having difficulty with locomotion, eye-hand coordination and severe behavioral issues. Her parents went on a painstaking mission to find a doctor who could help figure out what was going on, and it was discovered that she suffered a brain injury – either in utero or because of a long, traumatic birth.

Although Ms.Yankus parents were told by countless doctors that she’d never develop the coordination to ride a bicycle and would remain remedial for the rest of her life, as fate would have it, their best friends had also a son with a brain injury. It was through them that they learned about the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, a cutting-edge, progressive facility that treats brain-injured patients through a unique process called “Patterning”. This Patterning is designed to train the uninjured part of the brain to overcompensate for the part that is injured, thereby “rewiring” a patient’s neurological connections and improving functions.

Until she received this therapy, the only things that would calm her down were rhythm and music. Her father also had a love for music, as well as her grandparents, who would buy her toy instruments so that she could “jam” with Dad. As the oldest child, she also possessed a strong maternal instinct, and enjoyed helping to care for her two younger sisters. As a kid growing up in the 60s, Yanku had two distinct career ambitions: to be a nurse so she could take care of people, or to be one of the Beatles so she could make music.

Fast-forward past an unhealthy detour into the corporate world, she came to an awakening of sorts during a spiritual retreat in Upstate New York in 1996. Through group meditation and chanting, she became reacquainted with her passion for healing. It was at that point that she enrolled in massage school, and she hasn’t looked back since. Becoming a massage therapist has been the most rewarding decision shes ever made.

Wanting to combine her musical talents into her massage practice, four years ago Yanku embarked on a creative mission to develop OanaMassage, the first-of-its kind rhythmic, choreographed massage with it’s own musical score that matches every single massage stroke. The entire session is performed at 60 beats per minute, which, research has proven, assists with right/left brain synchronization, and also mimics the collective rhythm of the Earths Core, otherwise known as Schumanns Resonance.

So, what happens during an OanaMassage? Essentially, a persons right (creative) brain is enjoying the massage and the music, while the left (logical) brain is recognizing the corresponding patterns of the music and the massage in sync with each other. When a person receives OanaMassage frequently, he/she may start to anticipate the musical rhythm and the sequence of massage strokes, thereby enhancing healing on a much deeper level.

I worked my way through college, and he worked to feed us and keep a roof over our heads. I graduated and landed a job that paid very well. I thought life was good. We looked happy, at least from the outside. At forty- six, I was looking for what I was missing. I left him, dated a few men, and then stopped looking.

Holistic Weight Loss is Key to Depression Relief

New York City, NY (Vocus/PRWEB) January 04, 2011

Patients Medical, a leading integrative medical center in New York City, will reveal effective ways to ease depression through natural weight loss in a January 20th webinar at 6:30pm Eastern Time.

The holidays are a very challenging time for those who struggle with depression. The odds are really against you especially if patients are overweight or have other chronic health conditions, explains Dr. Rashmi Gulati, Medical Director of Patients Medical.

Many scientific studies have been published confirming the link between obesity and depression. Scientists noted that people classified as obese (body mass index of 30 or more) have a 50-150% greater chance of depression.

Losing weight is difficult for patients who are depressed. The task seems insurmountable, no matter how badly they say they want to lose weight. Thats why holistic treatment is essential. By balancing hormones, thyroid and brain chemistry for depression relief, along with supplements to support weight loss, a healthy diet and exercise, the whole body is addressed and you see results in all areas. This is inspiring to the patient and makes it easier to succeed in losing weight and keeping it off.

Dr. Gulati and her staff of holistic medical doctors recommend a complete health evaluation, after which a customized treatment plan will be prescribed, possibly including bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and all-natural, stimulant-free weight loss supplements such as MetabTrim. These recommendations and more will be revealed during the free webinar, Cure Your Depression with All-Natural Weight Loss hosted by Dr. Gulati and nutritionist, Judy Penta.

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Rashmi Gulati is a leader in internal and integrative medicine, having appeared as a medical expert on Good Morning America, CNN, FOX 5 and WCBS in addition to a variety of national publications, speaking about depression, thyroid disease, hormonal health, cancer and holistic medicine.
